The Twins beat the Rays 10-9 in the bottom of the 6th inning today in a great first game for both teams. On an exciting play, a popup by Harper Hearn was caught by Ray's shortstop Atlas Zack who then threw to his brother Samson to double up the runner at second for out number 2. But while this was happening Cam Napior of the Twins tagged up from third to score the winning run.

The Orioles and Rockies faced off in an afternoon game that was back and forth for a while, then the Rockies went on top with a grand slam from Jonathan Norton and a 3 run blast from Lowan Thigith. The O's made a game of it in the bottom of the sixth but the Rockies made a close play to end the game 18-11.

In another closely contested game, the Rays and Twins ended in a tie, 12-12. The Rays jumped to an early lead, powered in part by Hunter Meader's 3-run homer in the 2nd inning, and led 9-8 heading into the 6th inning. In the top of the sixth, the Twins started off strong with a home run by Nicholas Arroyo followed by three more runs to take a 12-9 lead. A resilient Rays team scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning to even up the contest with the tying run batted in by Ruby Mercier, her first hit at the minor league level.

In their first victory of the season, the Rays beat the Reds 16-2 today. Rays' starting pitcher, Eric Lehmberg, struck out 8 of the 15 batters he faced in his 2 and 2/3 on the mound, striking out the side in a 1-2-3 second inning. The Rays' offense was also in full swing, scoring 4 runs in each of the first 4 innings, highlighted by Elijah Dunn-Feiner's home run in the second. The Reds' runs came in the third courtesy of triples by Parker BenDavid and Jack O'Brien, each with an RBI.

On a beautiful May afternoon the Orioles and Twins played a spirited and tight game. With the game tied at 7 in the top of the 4th, it was the Twins who got the clutch hits with runners in scoring position. Silas Abrams, Braedyn Clark, and Cam Napior drove in 8 runs in the last two innings to put the Twins ahead for good. The Orioles got strong performances from Nate Story and Jack Lionette.

The Rockies won in a time shortened game behind a great pitching and catching duo of Pitcher Jonathan Norton and Catcher Micah Vought. The Orioles won their first game of the season behind stellar pitching and timely hitting. Starter Tobey Roberts struck out 8, accounting for every out in his 2-2/3rds shutout innings. Jack Lionette led the O's offense with a triple, 2 singles & 4 rbi. The Twins fell behind early 7-0, but stellar pitching of their own by Cam Napior & Nico Arroyo held the O's to 1 run over the last 3 innings. In the 5th, a double play by Tobey Roberts and Richie Combra killed a rally by the Twins. In the 6th, with the bases loaded for the Twins, Nate Story struck out two batters in a row to close out the victory for the O's.

Details
The Rays defeated the Reds 10-8. Held to only two runs in the first three innings by excellent pitching from the Reds' Jack O'Brien, the Rays found themselves down 8-2 after three innings. But Rays pitcher, Trent Bilodeau, along with some good defense, held the Reds scoreless the rest of the way and the Rays' bats woke up scoring 4 runs in both the 4th and 5th innings to take a 10-8 lead and earn the win.

The Rockies topped the marlins in a 5 inning game in Edgartown. Lowan Thigith had a shut down 3rd inning on the mound and Silas Van Horn had a solid closing fifth, while Micah Vought had a bases clearing double to start a rally in the top of the fifth. Final score 20-13.

The Orioles won their second game in a row, led by two shutout innings from Jack Lionette (5 strikeouts) and excellent relief pitching from Daniel Serpa & Teagan Myers, holding the Marlins to two runs for the game. The Marlins made a double play in the second, and made several nice force outs in the field. The teams have a rematch on Saturday, May 11.

In a close contest marked by several great pitching performances on both sides, The Rays beat the Rockies 9-3. Eric Lehmberg and Hunter Meader, who each pitched 3 innings, combined for 15 strikeouts and held the Rockies to 3 runs. Tegan Fenner helped fuel The Rays' offense with 3 RBIs. Tripp Hopkins had 2 RBI singles for the Rockies and on the mound, The Rockies' Jonathan Norton pitched scoreless 5th and 6th innings, as did Micah Vought in the 3rd.

Details
The Reds and Twins played a tight spirited game on Wednesday evening. With lots of hitting and great pitching by both teams. Of course it all came down to bottom of the sixth with one out and the bases loaded, Bethany Felix got the clutch hit for the Reds that plated two runs, with the tying run rounding third and headed home. Silas Abrams, of the Twins, gathered the ball and made a great throw to home where Harper Hearn was able to apply the tag, saving the game for the Twins. The Reds had great games from Adam Miller, Kaleb Hatt. The Twins standouts were Braedyn Clark, Jakie Glasgow, and Owen DiBiaso.

In a great, close game today, the Rays defeated the Rockies 10-9. Tied 9-9 after 51/2 innings, Eric Lehmberg scored on an RBI single by Hunter Meader (his 4th RBI of the day) in the bottom of the 6th for the win. The Rockies led 9-8 after 4 innings behind great pitching performances by Micah Vought and Jonathan Norton. But Trent Bilodeau came on in the 5th and pitched shutout ball for the Rays in the 5th and 6th innings to keep the Rockies at bay while the Rays scored 1 run in the bottom of the 5th to tie it up, and the winning run in the bottom of the 6th.

Details
Tight game played over two different days. On Saturday, excellent pitching by Marlins Greg Clark and Eamon Savard held the Orioles to 3 runs thru 3 innings, which was matched by O's pitchers Daniel Serpa and Nate Story. Rain suspended the game, 3-3 after 3 innings. On Monday, play resumed with each team plating 4, making it 7-7 thru 5. The O's finally broke thru with 9 in the 6th. The Marlins loaded the bases in the 6th and scored two, but Tobey Roberts worked his way out of the jam with a strikeout. Silas Stanek-Streed led the O's hitters with a clutch single for 2 RBI.

Thursday 5/16/13 -- Make up game ---
The Twins and Reds played a great game on Thursday, both teams gave all and it showed in a tied final score. The Reds had good hitting from Adam Miller, Parker Bendavid, Hardy Evile, and Latham Higgins had his first RBI of the season. The Twins had a balanced attack. With the game tied in the bottom of the sixth, it was the Riley brothers trying to win it for the Twins. With Jacob Riley on third and his brother Wilson at the plate with two out, but Parker Ben David shut them down to preserve the tie & 2 innings of scoreless relief.

The Marlins and Twins had a well played and shortened game on Tues evening. There were two great hits in the game. First by Gregory Clark for the Marlins, with no base runners. The second big hit was by the Twins Nico Arroyo, with bases loaded, clearing the bases. With lots good pitching from several different players the Twins were able to hold the Marlins scoreless.

In an exciting close game, the Rays beat the Orioles 11-10. Eric Lehmberg struck out 6 and held the Orioles scoreless in his two innings pitched to start the game, but the Orioles never gave up. Trailing 9-4 after 4 innings the Orioles started a late inning comeback, rallying around 7 hits in the 5th and 6th, 2 each for Tobey Roberts and Jack Lionette, and an RBI double by Silas Stanek-Streed. With the Orioles charging in the top of the 6th, Trent Bilodeau, who had 2 hits and 2 RBI in the game, came on in a save situation and held the Orioles 1 run shy of tying the game.
