Heavy weekend rains bumped the highly anticipated twinbill between the league's top teams from Saturday to the following Thursday, and both the weather and the level of play were worth the wait. In the opener, the Sox were an advertisement for the RBI Hitting Academy as they pounded out 6 hits en route to a 6 run bottom of the first. Jared Regan and Sam Cranston each scored their second run of the game in the next frame, and the rest of the game saw a lot of flashed leather from both sides as neither team was able to generate much more offense. Hunter Cleary and Michael Habekost each had 3 hits for the Tigers, while Sox veteran Cranston allowed little else in picking up the win over 4 2/3 efficient innings.

In the nightcap, the Tigers tried to shake their post MCAS funk by sporting their throwback black vests. Early on, the Sox seemed to be inching toward a sweep with single runs in the second and third. With workhorse Jake Howell pounding the strike zone the Tigers saw their hopes of keeping the Sons of Regan (literal and figurative) within range, both in the game, but also in the MVLL season standings. But once in awhile you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right. Trailing 2-1 in the fourth, the Tigers put two aboard, and with 2 outs and 2 strikes on him, Kyle Rollins felt it was time to produce his first Major League hit. Rollins scorched a triple into the right-center gap, plating 2 and amazing all. The Sox threatened, seriously threatened, in the sixth, putting runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out. All it took was a 1(Kelly)-3(Morris)-2(Cleary) double play to end it, and Aberdeen must wait as it seems there is still a long way to go in this 2013 regular season.
